Monsoon Alert: Heavy rain in many parts of North India has caused a notable drop in the temperature level, giving much relief from heat. Waterlogging was reportedly caused by heavy rains in some hilly parts of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, causing inconveniences to people passing through. Rain in several parts of Odisha and Maharashtra brought much-needed relief from the sticky heat.

Territories are now occupied by clouds. Monsoon is not gone yet; it will probably stay active for 16 days. Right so far this time, monsoon has produced 108 percent, which means 8 percent rain more than the forecasts. There are also rains in Bihar and Jharkhand. Rain warning has been issued by the Indian Meteorological Department in 16 districts.

These states would be left drenched by heavy rain in 24 hours.

The Meteorological Department has foreseen heavy rains on September 24 in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Maharashtra. Heavy rains are also predicted in Goa, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, and Nagaland. Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Karnataka, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh have received a high rain warning.

Apart from this, there can be rainfall in several districts of Chhattisgarh. Meanwhile, heavy rains are likely to continue for the next three days over Madhya Pradesh from September 24. Rainfall activity is slightly possible over Bhopal, Indore, and Jabalpur on September 23. It will be partly sunny in as many as 23 districts, including Gwalior.
Weather will be more active than normal for the next 16 days.

The Indian Meteorological Department confirmed that the monsoon would return from Western Rajasthan after September 18 and active for around 16 more days, keeping the country soggy with heavy rain till the end of September.

There is still an outer chance of rain even in October following the withdrawal of the monsoon. This time, with having already produced 108 per cent and scoring 8% more rain than before, the monsoon fails to benefit the country. Still about one-fourth of the country, that is, 185 districts (26%), faces a drought situation.
