Bengaluru: In a disturbing incident in the city, a BMTC bus conductor was attacked with a stone by a passenger, allegedly due to a minor altercation over a bus pass issue.
Police have identified the accused as Hemanth, a BCom graduate who resides in Nagarabhavi, and have registered a case at Mahadevapura police station.
The incident reportedly occurred on October 18, near Tin Factory, when bus conductor Sangappa Chittalgi had parked the bus for a meal break with driver Basavaraj. At this time, Hemanth, who works for a private company in Marathahalli, allegedly boarded the bus and struck Sangappa on the head with a stone before attempting to flee the scene.
The conductor and driver managed to catch and restrain him, ultimately handing him over to the police.
During police questioning, Hemanth confessed that he harboured a grudge against Sangappa due to a prior altercation involving a travel pass. According to police, Hemanth’s father was also a retired BMTC bus conductor.
