NEW DELHI: Indian-American politician Vivek Ramaswamy in a recent podcast floated his intentions to run for governor of Ohio after polls showed he would sweep the race, if he were to contest. The former Republican presidential candidate hinted that he "consider" because of widespread requests from people while also steering clear that it is not a definitive path that he has set himself on, at least for now.

"This is the number one thing that people across the state will come literally plead with me to do... And so, would I consider it? Yes, I would consider it," Vivek Ramaswamy said. However, added, “But am I definitively on that path? I’m not definitively on any specific path right now.”

"We are going to let the election play out", he added.

However, this is not the first time Vivek Ramasamy has shown intentions to run for governor. Earlier in September, the former Republican presidential candidate echoed similar sentiments to run for Ohio governor while hosting a town hall, where he addressed concerns about the migrant crisis.

On being asked if he would consider running for governor of Ohio, he had quipped, “I’m a little more inclined than I was ten seconds ago.”

In July, Ramaswamy weighed the possibility of filling the US Senate seat of Sen. JD Vance in the event he is elected vice president in November.

“To be frank, I would strongly consider it if I were asked to serve, but I would also want to have a serious conversation with President Trump about the other ways that I could have an impact on the country,” Ramaswamy had said.
