Gorakhpur: Continuing the Gorakshpeeth tradition of reverence towards ‘matri shakti', Chief Minister and Gorakshpeethadhishwar Yogi Adityanath performed ‘Kanyapujan' ritual on Wednesday, on the occasion of ‘Mahanavami' of Sharadiya Navratri. Yogi washed feet of nine young girls, symbolising nine forms of Goddess Durga, adorned them with ‘chunari', performed ‘aarti' and offered flowers, gifts and ‘dakshina'. He also washed the feet of a six-month-old infant and blessed her, while a young boy dressed as Lord Hanuman was honored with tilak, garland and ‘angavastra'. At the temple's dining hall, Yogi Adityanath served freshly cooked ‘prasadam' to girls and boys, engaging them in warm conversation and ensuring every plate was served. The young devotees responded with equal affection. tnn
