SRINAGAR: At least one army trooper was killed and nine other personnel injured early Saturday in a road accident in Damhal Hanjipora area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district .
Officials said the vehicle carrying soldiers skidded off the road after its driver lost control, causing it to overturn.
The deceased was identified as driver Jeet Kumar, and the injured as Major Rudhar Pratap Singh, Riflemen Ranveer, Parveen Singh, Sachin Singh, Harish Bhati, and Sepoys Amit Lal, Raja Singh, Arjun Gurjar and Sumeet.
The injured have been shifted to hospital. “Tragically, one sepoy lost his life, while a few soldiers suffered injuries and were promptly evacuated for medical care. All soldiers are stable,” the Army’s Chinar Corps said in a statement.
