PANAJI: With a student allegedly dying by suicide at BITS Pilani K K Birla Goa Campus last Thursday, making it the third such student death in five months, the institution is taking several measures, including revamping its syllabus, to prevent such unfortunate incidents in the future.

As part of these, students in distress will be offered flexibility when it comes to taking exams. The authorities at BITS Pilani Goa Campus said a ' Student Wellbeing Dashboard' is also being developed to provide personalised support and ensure timely interventions in case of need.

"We are revamping the existing curriculum, and a separate committee has been constituted to streamline the academic content. Students in distress will be given flexibility to take examinations. New courses on mental and physical wellness and stress management will be included in the revised curriculum," a statement from the institution said.

"The loss of our student, Krishna Kasera, has saddened the entire community. We understand that this is a difficult time for everyone, and we are dedicated to providing compassionate support and care to all members of our community. We are extending full support to the local authorities and the family," it said.

BITS Pilani Goa Campus said it already offers counselling from psychologists and a 24x7 helpline, peer and faculty support groups, and sports and gym facilities to ensure the well-being of its students.
