Oscar Piastri has proved McLaren's dominance on track once again by winning his third race of the season in Jeddah . He is now leading the drivers' championship for the first time in his career. He managed to push Max Verstappen to the number 2 spot despite the Red Bull driver starting the race from pole position. The South Arabian Grand Prix was as exciting as ever, as the Ferraris surpassed not only their recent records but also their rivals during the final race. As the race was nearing the finish line, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc surpassed the regular number 3, Mercedes driver George Russell, to grab his first podium of the season in third place.

Despite starting from the tenth position, McLaren driver Lando Norris managed to grab the fourth position. He had crashed into a barrier during qualifying and ended up 10th in the qualifying list. During the final race, he delayed a pit stop, unlike others, to remain in the race, but things changed as he decided to take one while nearing the finish line.

Russell, meanwhile, ended fifth in the race, and his Mercedes teammate Kimi Antonelli managed the sixth position. At one point, it seemed as if Lewis Hamilton had finally caught up with the competition in his Ferrari but was eventually surpassed by Norris. After a break, Piastri also drove past Hamilton amid a cloud of dust and the latter ended up in the 7th position.

Max Verstappen could have clinched his second win of the season after Japan, but he was awarded a five-second penalty. Verstappen had been winning the Jeddah race for the last two years. After Verstappen qualified for pole position on Saturday, his girlfriend Kelly Piquet cheered for him via Instagram. She took to her Instagram Stories to share a video of him celebrating the achievement after the qualifying race. “How you do this,” she wrote along with the video. The couple are set to welcome their first child within a few days.

The race ended early for Red Bull’s new driver Yuki Tsunoda and Alpine’s Pierre Gasly, as the two crashed into each other on the track, bringing out red flags. While Tsunoda returned to the pit with some hope, his team retired the damaged car.
