"I Want To See Theory Back In Championship Matches": Wrestling Veteran Criticizes WWE's Handling Of Former Champion

Hall of Fame wrestling journalist Bill Apter recently discussed the utilization of certain WWE stars under the Vince McMahon regime, highlighting how the booking has shifted under the current management. One star who seems to have lost some momentum is Austin Theory , a talent who once shone brightly under McMahon's leadership.

This past week on SmackDown , Theory teamed up with Grayson Waller in a triple-threat match against Kevin Owens. The match revealed tensions between the two teammates, as they argued over who would pin Owens. Ultimately, their inability to work together allowed Owens to capitalize on their dysfunction, leading to a victory after he delivered a devastating Stunner to Theory.

During the most recent episode of *Smack Talk*, Bill Apter shared his thoughts on the current direction of Austin Theory. He expressed disappointment in how Theory has been used since McMahon's departure. Apter believes that Theory, a former United States Champion, has not been showcased as well as he was in the past. He feels that Theory needs to break away from Grayson Waller and return to focusing on his singles career. Apter also expressed a desire to see a match between the two as a culmination of their current storyline.

"Well, first of all, the Austin Theory that we're seeing is not on the level that Austin Theory was at when this guy [Vince McMahon] was still in charge. I want to see Theory back in the lineup of championship matches. I want to see him back as a singles wrestler. I think he and Grayson Waller were good as a tag team, but that split has gotta happen. They gotta put them in a match against each other one on one. That's gotta happen," Apter said.

Following the match, Austin Theory and Grayson Waller launched a vicious 2-on-1 beatdown on Kevin Owens, leaving him incapacitated in the ring. Next week on WWE SmackDown, fans can expect more action as A-Town Down Under (Theory and Waller) will face Owens and a partner of his choosing in a tag team showdown.
