Salman Khan’s action drama Sikandar appears to be losing steam at the box office as it enters its third week in cinemas. The film, which initially opened to a strong start, is now facing dwindling numbers, earning under Rs 1 crore on Day 14. The sharp drop in collections is largely attributed to the stiff competition from Sunny Deol’s latest release, Jaat.
Sikandar Movie Review
Sikandar ended its second Friday with a modest Rs 30 lakh and saw a slight increase in collections on Saturday, earning an estimated Rs 40 lakh, according to Sacnilk.com. However, the numbers reflect a significant drop — over 50% — compared to its performance in the previous week. The third weekend collections are particularly underwhelming, with a total of just Rs 70 lakh recorded so far.
The film had kicked off on a high note, garnering around Rs 90 crore by the end of its first week. Despite a noticeable decline in its second week, it still managed to rake in approximately Rs 17.55 crore. But the momentum has clearly fizzled out as it struggles to maintain footfall in its third week.Industry insiders point to the release of Jaat as a major factor in Sikandar’s decline. Sunny Deol’s action flick hit theatres a day earlier than usual, debuting on a Thursday, and made an impressive Rs 26.50 crore in its opening weekend. While Jaat is yet to match the sky-high expectations set by Deol’s previous blockbuster Gadar 2 — which collected over Rs 600 crore — it has clearly struck a chord with audiences, drawing attention away from Sikandar.
With audience preferences shifting and competition heating up, Sikandar now faces an uphill battle to sustain its theatrical run. Whether it can bounce back in the coming days remains uncertain, but for now, the box office crown seems to be tilting in Sunny Deol’s favour.
