While metropolitan giants like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore often steal the spotlight for their extensive public transportation networks, there's a city that has quietly outpaced them in efficiency, accessibility, and user satisfaction. Away from the rush of urban fame, Bhubaneshwar has created an extensive system of transport that made it win the title of the ‘City with Best Public Transport System’ award at the 17th Urban Mobility India Conference and Expo at Gandhi Nagar in Gujarat.
On behalf of the Bhubaneshwar government, Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra received the award. Mahapatra commented, "This award symbolizes our collective commitment for building a sustainable future under VIKSIT Odisha vision....We have implemented innovative technologies, expanded our network and prioritised safety and accessibility for passengers under this transport service.”
The 2024 award makes it the sixth time that the Odisha government’s initiative, managed by the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT), has been recognized by the Centre as one of the country’s finest urban mobility systems. This award is being seen as the result of Urban mobility services ‘Mo Bus’ and ‘Mo-E Ride'. The services are part of a public-private partnership that uses a gross-cost contract model. The services have helped to revive the number of passengers on public transport in Bhubaneswar, while aiming at sustainability, for which it was nominated for the Sustainable Transport Award in 2023.

The fleet includes standard buses, midi buses, and refurbished buses, and some are electric.
