Kottayam: The office of KC Venugopal MP complained to the Alappuzha police regarding a fake Facebook account in the name of the MP. K Sharath Chandran, Venugopal's personal secretary, sought swift action as the imposter was misusing the MP's name.
The letter stated that the public was being misled into believing that the fake account was the official one, leading to friend requests, interactions and communications under false pretences. "This impersonation not only tarnishes the MP's reputation but also poses a serious risk of misinformation and potential misuse," the complainant said.
The complainant also demanded the initiation of necessary measures to block the fake account at the earliest to prevent any further misuse. The complaint was attached with conversations the imposter had with people.
