Kota: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB)'s Kota team, acting on court orders, Monday opened four bank lockers of graft-accused PWD engineer Ajay Singh in his presence in Kota, resulting in the discovery of Rs 59 lakh in cash.
On Friday last week, Rs 45 lakh in cash had already been recovered from three bank lockers linked to Singh, with Rs 15 lakh in each. ACB arrested the PWD executive engineer, who was posted in Baran, from Baran circuit house on Monday last week after catching him red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 5 lakh from a contractor.
Singh had demanded a bribe of Rs 20 lakh for sanctioning pending work bills totalling Rs 6-7 crore.
Following the order of the court hearing the case, the ACB team took Singh to a bank branch in Kota from jail in Baran on Monday and opened four bank lockers in his presence, ASP, ACB, Kota, Vijay Swarnkar said. Singh is currently lodged in jail under judicial custody in Baran. TNN
