Berhampur: Police on Friday recovered the decomposed body of a 24-year-old farmer from Kakarapalli forest area in Ganjam district. The deceased was identified as Bibhu Prasad Swain of Lathipada, who was missing from home since Aug 31.
Family members of the deceased lodged a missing report in Sorada police station on Wednesday after they failed to trace him. On Friday, police got information about a body lying near the forest. The body was later identified by Swain’s family members and was sent to MKCG Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.
Family members alleged he was killed by some unknown miscreants and the body dumped near the forest area. “Exact cause of death will be known only after getting the autopsy report,” said Sunil Pradhan, inspector in-charge, Sorada police station. Preliminary inquiry has revealed the body has no injury marks.
