The US Presidential Elections 2024 are witnessing a neck-and-neck contest between Vice President and Democrat candidate Kamala Harris and her Republican opponent former President Donald Trump. Both candidates left no stone unturned to woo voters. Millions of voters across the United States are casting ballots on Tuesday to elect the nation's 47th President. What Will Happen If Harris And Trump Claim Victory?In this situation, both candidates can approach the Supreme Court. The apex court can intervene and order recounting. Almost a similar situation arose during the 2000 Presidential polls. Bush vs Gore case:During the Presidential polls in 2000, the gap between Republican George Bush and Democrat AI Gore was less than 0.1 per cent in Florida. Both campaigns immediately sent their teams of lawyers to the state and levelled charges of conflict of interest against each other. Bush’s brother Jeb was the governor of Florida at that time and Secretary of State Katherine Harris was co-chair of his campaign in Florida.On December 8, the Florida Supreme Court had ordered a statewide recount of all undervotes. Over 61,000 ballots that the vote tabulation machines had missed. The Bush campaign immediately asked the U.S. Supreme Court to stay the decision and halt the recount. On December 9, the five conservative justices on the Court granted the stay, The Supreme Court allowed Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris's vote certification to stand, giving Bush Florida's 25 electoral votes. Florida's votes gave Bush, the Republican nominee, 271 electoral votes. Notably, to win the US polls, a candidate needs to win 270 electoral votes. US 2024 Election Latest Poll Survey:However, as per the latest poll surveys, Trump is leading in all swing states. According to the AtlasIntel survey, the former president has a 49 per cent advantage against his opponent's 47.2 per cent. But all is within the margin of error.The poll, conducted on November 1 and 2, reveals that Donald Trump leads in all swing states, including Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. The survey included nearly 2,500 likely voters, predominantly female.What Trump Said After Casting Ballot:Trump cast his ballot in Florida on Tuesday morning (local time) for the 2024 US presidential elections. Trump along with his wife Melania Trump arrived to vote in Palm Beach near their Florida home. After casting his vote, the Republican candidate told reporters that he had not prepared any speech for the election night.However, he exuded confidence in winning the US Presidential polls with a thumping majority. Speaking to the media after casting his ballot, Trump said he is "very confident" he will win the election and that "it won't even be close.""I feel very confident," Trump said. "I hear we're doing very well everywhere." He added that this was the "best" of the three campaigns he ran. "It won't even be close," Trump said. "But it's gonna take a long time to certify."
