As a result of the threats, some schools were closed on Thursday, and it followed on Friday with two more schools being closed.Springfield, a town with a significant Haitian population, has seen several false claims being made about the Haitians. Several prominent personalities, including former president Donald Trump and his running mate Ohio Senator JD Vance, have reiterated the debunked claim that Haitians in Springfield are eating pet cats and ducks. The rumors about Haitians in Springfield have continued to spread despite the local police reassuring them that there have been no such cases of Haitian immigrants eating pets. Meanwhile, the attention the town is receiving turned unpleasant on Thursday after the city received bomb threat emails targeting several locations. The area locations of the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Clark County government office and the Fulton Elementary School were closed amid the threats. On Friday, another threat email followed in which Springfield City Hall, Cliff Park High School, Perrin Woods Elementary School, Roosevelt Middle School, the Bureau of MotorVehicles and the Ohio License Bureau Southside were targeted, according to an official from the City of Springfield.
