A massive fire erupted at the BL Duke Joliet Public Scrap Metal Recycling Yard in Joliet, Illinois. According to reports, both the Joliet Fire Department and the Lockport Township Fire Protection District are on the scene, working to contain the blaze. The cause of the fire is currently not known. North Broadway Street is closed near Theodore Street as a result of the blaze and drivers have been asked to look for alternate routes.
Videos from the scene showed large plumes of smoke filling the sky. Joliet Firefighters Local 44 confirmed the crews are working to contain the blaze."Crews are currently on the scene of a fire at Genstar Ln. Crews arrived on scene to find a large pile of debris on fire. Crews are currently working to extinguish the fire and protect exposures alongside Lockport Fire Protection District. Responding Units: Engine 5, Engine 1, Truck 1, Engine8, Tower 6, Ambulance 5, Ambulance 1, Battalion 1, Battalion 2," Joliet Firefighters Local 44 said in a Facebook post.
