New Delhi: The Delhi stretch of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is expected to open to the public on November 12. South Delhi MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri announced that the six-lane highway, along with two bridges—one over the Agra Canal and the other over the Gurgaon Canal—are ready for commissioning. Bidhuri highlighted that with the opening of these projects, Mathura Road will be completely free of traffic jams. The elevated section of the corridor runs through congested areas such as Yamuna Khadar, Okhla Vihar, and Batla House along the Yamuna riverbank. A downward ramp has been constructed near Maharani Bagh, which will cross the road near the Ashram entrance to the DND flyover., as per a TOI report.Bidhuri also mentioned that Rs 5,500 crore has been invested in these projects, which will provide an alternative route to Faridabad, Palwal, and Sohna. He emphasised that the new infrastructure will not only ease traffic but also cut down travel time significantly. Currently, it takes 2.5 hours to travel from Maharani Bagh to Sohna, but once the bridges and highway open, the journey time will be reduced to just 25 minutes.
The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will reduce travel time between the national capital and the financial hub to just 12 hours, once completed. The journey between Delhi and Gujarat, which currently takes over 18 hours, will be significantly shortened to approximately 10.5 hours with the help of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. The expressway will also shorten travel times between other cities along the route; for instance, the journey between Jaipur and Delhi will be cut from five hours to three and a half hours, according to a report by Times Property. The expressway, part of the Bharatmala Pariyojana, will become India's longest highway at 1,386 kilometres. It will feature 40 interchanges, enhancing connectivity to several cities including Jaipur, Kishangarh, Ajmer, Kota, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Bhopal, Ujjain, Indore, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Surat. You may also like
