Carly Gregg, a 15-year-old from Mississippi, was found guilty of killing her mother. As the verdict was pronounced, she began sobbing. A jury reached the decision after two hours of deliberation. Gregg had previously rejected a 40-year plea deal. Her defense team claimed the teenager had been facing mental health issues and disassociated the ime of the crime. She shot her mother when she was 14 years old. Prosecutors argued that Gregg's actions were premeditated. They presented her journal, which included some of her beliefs like: "You don't need family" and "It's okay to be evil."
