Woman suddenly dies in Blackpool hotel as cops arrest man and launch probe

Police are probing the death of a woman in her 30s after she was found in a hotel in Blackpool.

Emergency services rushed to the Village Hotel on East Park Drive shortly before 9.30am on Monday (September 23).

Lancashire Constabulary said they were called to reports of a sudden death and found the body of a woman in her 30s. Officers told LancsLive her death is "not being treated as suspicious" and file will be prepared for the coroner.

A man was arrested on suspicion of supplying a controlled drug and has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

In a statement, a force spokesperson said: "We were called at shortly before 9.30am on Monday, September 23 to a report of a sudden death at the Village Hotel, East Park Drive.

"Officers attended and sadly the body of a woman in her 30s was found dead inside a room.

"Our thoughts are with her loved ones at this time. Following enquiries the death is not being treated as suspicious and file will be prepared for HM Coroner.

"A man in his 30s from Leeds who was arrested on suspicion of supplying a controlled drug has been released under investigation while enquiries continue."

A description on the travel site Tripadvisor says the Village Park Hotel boasts 174 "bright and modern bedrooms" set in 236 acres of Flyde coast countryside. The facility also has an 18-hole championship golf course.
