"But the offering from this family-run joint is simple: perfectly cooked, sustainably sourced cod or haddock, on a bed of undeniably crispy, never soggy, thick-cut chips, always served with a wedge of lemon and a sprig of parsley.
"All the homemade dips - mushy peas, katsu curry sauce - are fantastic, but it's their signature tartare sauce that really makes the difference; it's so tangy and peppered with big, crunchy chunks of pickle. Divine."
And customers seem to love it too. One pensioner wrote on TripAdvisor: "I've just had what was far and away the very best haddock and chips of my entire (almost)77 years. My first time in Porthtowan and that meal was the highlight of my visit. Just sublime. Thank you guys for a superb meal and friendly service."
A second added: "So delicious, really good food. Cooked to perfection! The portions were large and the chips were golden. Fish so fresh and the batter was thin, tasty and not at all greasy."
A third chimed in: "Definitely a 5star chippy. Proudly displaying a 5 star food hygiene. In the window. Welcoming service and the food was not only great value but was great tasing too with light crispy batter and fresh fish. You really can tell that they care about getting it right. And that's exactly what they are doing."
