Prince William interrupted his holiday break to send a heartfelt message to a Cornish football club and congratulate them after a major milestone. The Prince of Wales is currently on a summer break with his family, the Princess of Wales, and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
William, apart from being patron of the Football Association, is a major football fan and regularly attends matches.
This week, it emerged that the heir, who also holds the title of the Duke of Cornwall, sent Truro City a message after the club got promoted to the National League as Cornwall's first professional team.
The message, which was uploaded today on social media by the club and was dated August 7, was sent by William's Private Secretary, Ian Patrick.
It read: "The Duke of Cornwall has asked me to write ahead of your home match against York on Saturday next week.
"The Duke knows that you have only just returned home after a few years away, and like everyone else in Cornwall, will be cheering you on.
"Prince William has asked me to pass on his warmest congratulations in getting promoted to the National League as Cornwall's first professional team.
"This comes with the Duke of Cornwall's very best wishes. Good luck to The Tinners."

William's last public appearance was in July, when he attended this year's Women's Euros final match between England and Spain. The Lionesses emerged victorious following a penalty shootout.
The prince was joined by his second child, Princess Charlotte, who looked equally absorbed throughout the tense match.
It was the first time Charlotte was seen with her dad at such a major sporting event on her own, and the first time she issued a message on social media too.
The pair congratulated the Lionesses in a short statement on X, saying: "What a game! Lionesses, you are the champions of Europe and we couldn't be prouder of the whole team. Enjoy this moment England. W & Charlotte".
