Outlander enthusiasts have comforted other impatient fans with a simple solution to another gruelling 'Droughtlander'.

The affectionate nickname refers to the infamous, lengthy hiatuses between new seasons of the popular Starz show.

Viewers are currently waiting for the highly anticipated second half of season seven, and it's now been over a year since the midseason finale left Claire (played by Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) on the Scottish shores.

One eager fan recently took to the forums seeking a solution for the painful months when the Fraser saga is off-air.

"The hold that this show has on me," they shared to Reddit. "I am so invested in their story and the characters.

"Well I am of course in love with Jamie (obviously), but I also grew to adore Ian, and Bree and Roger (season 7 growth for them was insane).

"Too many emotions right now with the return to Scotland! Guess I'll start season 1 episode 1 again (actually looking forward to it)"

Rather than simply starting all over from the beginning, other fans chimed in to propose this fan check out the original novels by Diana Gabaldon upon which the drama is based.

"My advice to anyone who has to finished and loved the TV series. READ THE BOOKS!!" one user responded.

"I agree 100%," another replied. "When I first started the series in 2019, I had only watched 4 episodes when I decided I wanted MORE! And started the books.

"I have read all the big ones except Bees [Go And Tell the Bees That I Am Gone].

"Getting ready to start it. And I read all the smaller novellas. Which should not be missed!"

And a third said: "Read the books!!! They're SO good! I don't even like to read and they're amazing!!!"

While the original poster revealed: "I'm currently reading book 1 (but watching the show has distracted me from it) now that I've finished maybe I'll pick up the pace."

For fans who might be intimidated by Outlander's doorstopper source material, they can always jump on board a similar series to pass the time between seasons.

"Whilst waiting for the 2nd half of season 7 (Nov 22nd) - give Poldark a watch!" one avid TV fan said.

To which another concurred: "Great series! We watched this before we found Outlander."

While there's no time travel in this BBC One series, it follows a similar premises that Outlander fans are sure to eat up.

After serving in the American Revolutionary War, Ross Poldark (Aidan Turner) returns to Cornwall to discover his father has died, leaving him and his maid (and later, wife) Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson) to rebuild his fortune.

Outlander season 7, part 2 premieres Sunday, November 22 on Starz. Poldark is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
