The Met Office issued yet another yellow alert on Wednesday after warning several areas across Britain are to face .
The new yellow warning is set to last between 3am on Sunday (October 20) and 12pm on Monday (October 21), the UK weather agency said.
The windy period is expected across much of the UK including all of Scotland and Northern Ireland and parts of northwest England (Carlisle, Whitehaven) and northwest Wales (Conwy, Anglesey).
The believes there is an increased chance of some disruption, with journey times being longer and cancellations as road, rail, air and ferry services are affected.
There is also the possibility that there will be damage to some buildings and large waves on the coast. Both could cause injury or be a danger to life as well as cause power cuts.
The Met Office recommends that those in areas set to be impacted by the strong winds secure loose items outside their homes (bins, garden furniture, etc), drive slower than normal and give other vehicles room, and beware of coastal waves.
This weather warning will come after two others this week. Today (October 16), there is a warning in place across west and north England and much of Wales for rain, lasting from the afternoon into the evening.
There is another wind warning in place on Friday (October 18) for northwest Scotland, with strong gusts and high spring tides for much of the morning and afternoon.
Tonight:
Outbreaks of heavy rain will continue to move northeastwards through the night. Southern and western areas become dry by the end of the night. Another mild night for many.
Thursday:
Early rain clearing the northeast of the UK, then a brighter day is expected tomorrow with a mixture of sunny spells and a scattering of showers.
Outlook for Friday to Sunday:
Outbreaks of rain and brisk winds across northwestern areas on Friday, drier and brighter further southeast. The rain moving eastwards through Saturday, with brighter skies following. Widely wet and windy on Sunday.
