Masked burglars 'raid Anya Taylor-Joy's mansion' and 'attempt to enter bedroom'

A mansion where Anya Taylor-Joy was staying was reportedly stormed by masked burglars who attempted to enter her bedroom while she was inside.

The 28-year-old actress and her musician husband, Malcolm McRae, were said to be at the north London property with his bandmate, Kane Richotte, when the break-in occurred.

According to The Standard, masked intruders attempted to enter the star and her husband, Malcolm McRae's, bedroom while they were inside. The break-in reportedly involved two burglars who forced their way into the property in February last year.

The pair were staying with McRae's bandmate Kane Richotte at a home owned by a well-known individual whose identity cannot be disclosed for legal reasons. Although glass was allegedly smashed during the intrusion, none of them were physically harmed, though they were left shaken.

Just a week later, The Queen's Gambit and Peaky Blinders star appeared on the red carpet at the BAFTA Film Awards.

Anya began dating McRae between April and May 2021, and in September 2023, with the couple marrying in Italy and celebrating with over 150 guests in Venice.

It was revealed today that Kirk Holdrick, one of the individuals charged in connection with the break-in at a mansion where the star was staying, has pleaded not guilty to burglary. The incident occurred on February 12, 2023, just a week before the BAFTA Film Awards in London. Reporting restrictions on the case were lifted by Judge Kalyani Kaul KC, allowing journalists to cover the details for the first time.

Holdrick, who was reportedly dating The Only Way Is Essex star Hannah Voyan in 2022, is accused of attempting to break into the property.

Currently held at Gartree Prison in Leicestershire, Holdrick is scheduled to stand trial for the alleged burglary at Wood Green Crown Court in London on September 29 next year. The defendant denies any involvement in the incident.

Taylor-Joy and McRae began their relationship in 2021, before eloping on April Fools day the following year to have a private wedding ceremony in New Orleans.

They held a second lavish ceremony in September 2023 in Venice, Italy, attended by guests including Cara Delevingne and Julia Garner.

Rock star McRae performs in the band more* with Richotte, with the pair also trying their hand at acting after appearing in Prime Video series Daisy Jones and the Six.
