Golden retriever signals for owners to check on baby for sweet reason

A heartwarming golden retriever has captured hearts worldwide after assuming the role of devoted guardian to his newborn human sibling.

Winston, the one-year-old pooch, has been taking his babysitting responsibilities incredibly seriously - even ensuring his owners Roissy and Alexander Koeneke stay on top of their parenting duties.

The 29-year-old mum, from San Diego, California, has shared footage on social media showcasing her clever canine in action, demonstrating how he monitors her baby.

In the touching clip, Winston can be seen positioned in the hallway, gazing intently at his owner until she follows him to the nursery.

The determined dog remains completely motionless until she rises and accompanies him to check on the three-month-old baby.

Subsequently, the devoted pup inspects the little one, ensuring he's content, well and properly cared for.

In her TikTok post, Roissy, known online as @windston. goldenpup, penned: "We needs a nanny when you have a golden".

She also added text to the footage stating: "My dog will keep staring at my husband and I until either of us checks on our baby. And he will follow to make sure we actually stop making him cry."

Speaking to Newsweek, she explained: "He has such good hearing so he hears the baby before us, and that's when we know sometimes that a cry is about to come. Then he gives us such a sassy side eye when we don't stand up immediately!"

She revealed Winston was "full of excitement" when his baby brother arrived - and remains constantly close by should assistance be required. Devoted to his duties, she reveals the pooch even rouses himself for midnight feeds and nappy changes.

She continued: "One time, we saw he left this toy in his water bowl, and he's never done this before, but he was probably just super-tired for choosing to wake up with the baby each time.

"One of the sweetest things he does is try to soothe the baby with his paw. We're always careful when it happens."

Responding to her video, one user remarked: "Our dog howls if the baby is crying and he comes to get me (mum) if someone else is taking too long to soothe the baby."
