Expert shares 'only way' to eat beans on toast - have you been doing it wrong?

Beans on toast is that's also counted as an essential in most British households. It is one of the quickest, cheapest, and easiest meals that can be prepared in minutes.

However, experts at Heinz have released the perfect method to prepare the food, and it makes us think, have we all been making it wrong? The experts have criticised the easy way of putting bread in a toaster and then pouring butter on it. "Etiquette expert" William Hanson has decreed that the "only way to eat your beans is in a quintessentially British manner".

In a , Mr Hanson claims white farmhouse-style bread is the best option for the simple meal, and warns against using salted butter, reports .

He stated: "When having beans on toast, don't drown your toast with beans, this is not your local lido. A good butter - unsalted, of course, because we're not heathens - will ensure it keeps its crisp crunch."

According to YouGov, beans on toast is the eighth most popular dish in the UK (behind the English breakfast, which is the top preference, and chips, which comes second) with just under half of the population eating it at least once a week.

1)Put two slices of white loaf bread in a toaster
