There is one method you should use when it comes to cooking bacon in the air fryer. Bacon is a staple food in British households. Not only is it used to make a delicious full English breakfast, but it is also great for sandwiches, salads and pasta dishes. There are numerous ways to cook bacon, with some being faster than others. While many people pot for frying bacon in a pan or cooking it under an oven grill, it can also be cooked to perfection using an air fryer.
Air fryers have changed the game when it comes to cooking at home, and many Brits across the country have fallen in love with these appliances. There are many things that can be cooked in an air fryer, from potatoes to vegetables to meats like bacon. If you're an air fryer lover and you plan to cook bacon soon, then there is one simple method you should follow, a food expert has revealed. Sarah Rossi, who runs the recipe and cooking site Taming Twins, shared her air fryer bacon recipe that she says gives her "perfectly crispy" results.
As well as the crispiness of the bacon, she says that it is ideal for busy families because it requires little effort and doesn't leave a mess. Plus, there is no oil required.
Firstly, you need to preheat your air fryer to 200C for around three minutes. Once it is ready, you place your bacon slices directly into the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure they don't overlap.
She then cooks the bacon for five minutes. When the time comes, she drains the fat and the bacon is ready to be eaten. However, if you like your bacon extra crispy, then she advises to cook it for a further two to three minutes.
This is perfect for people who like a crispy slice of bacon in a sandwich, wrap, or salad. Additionally, if you want a crumbly bacon piece, you can drain it at the seven-minute mark and cook for a further two minutes, for a total of nine minutes.
This method works great for cooking bacon that you plan to eat soon. But Sarah goes further and shares another handy hack that makes this even quicker. If she knows she is going to have bacon later in the week, then she part-cooks her bacon until it is "just cooked and not yet coloured" and keeps it in the fridge for up to four to five days.
When it comes time to eat it, she then simply places that part-cooked bacon in a preheated air fryer for around three minutes.
