John Ratcliffe Appointed as CIA Director by Trump

The U.S. President-elect Donald Trump named John Ratcliffe, the former congressman and Director of National Intelligence, as his pick for the next Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). This decision comes amid speculation that Kash Patel, an Indian-American lawyer, would secure the position. Patel, known for his strong loyalty to Trump, had been expected to be appointed after working as an aide who opposed investigations into Trump’s connections with Russia.

Despite Patel's expectations, Trump opted for Ratcliffe, who had previously served as the Director of National Intelligence under the last Trump administration. The position of Director of National Intelligence remains open, leaving the door open for Patel to be considered for another role within the Trump administration.

Trump’s transition team expressed confidence in Ratcliffe’s appointment, praising his dedication to truth and transparency. “John Ratcliffe has always been a warrior for truth and honesty with the American public,” the team said. Ratcliffe is credited with exposing the fake Russian collusion narrative and exposing FBI abuses at the FISA Court. He also stood firm when 51 intelligence officials spread false information about Hunter Biden’s laptop, choosing to speak the truth.

In recognition of his contributions, Trump awarded Ratcliffe the National Security Medal in 2020, the highest honor in intelligence and national security. As CIA Director, Ratcliffe is expected to continue his efforts to protect Americans’ constitutional rights while ensuring national security remains a top priority.
