Emirates Bans Pagers and Walkie-Talkies on Flights Following Lebanon Blasts

Dubai-based Emirates Airlines has implemented a ban on pagers and walkie-talkies aboard its flights in response to recent sabotage attacks in Lebanon. The airline has also extended the cancellation of flights to various Middle Eastern destinations due to escalating tensions in the region.

Passengers flying to, from, or via Dubai are prohibited from bringing pagers and walkie-talkies in both checked and cabin baggage. Emirates announced this measure following a series of explosions involving communication devices allegedly used by the Iran-backed Hezbollah group, which accused Israel of being behind the attacks. In a statement on its website, Emirates warned that any such items found in passengers' luggage would be confiscated by Dubai Police.

The blasts in Lebanon last month resulted in at least 37 fatalities and nearly 3,000 injuries. Emirates, the largest airline in the Middle East, has also stated that its flights to Iraq and Iran will remain suspended until Tuesday. This decision was made after a significant Iranian attack on Israel, which involved missiles crossing over Iraq and Iran.

Additionally, while flights to Jordan, which were previously suspended, are set to resume on Sunday, flights to and from Lebanon will remain halted until October 15. This suspension is due to ongoing Israeli attacks, including strikes near Beirut’s main airport.

Several other airlines have also suspended services to and from Beirut and various other airports in the Middle East amid the rising tensions.
