Many people exercise regularly but despite this their weight does not reduce. If this is happening to you too, then the reason may be that you do not have 'skinny genes'. In a recent study, scientists have revealed that certain 'skinny genes' affect our body's ability to lose weight.
This study was conducted by researchers from the University of Essex and Anglia Ruskin University. They found that there are 14 specific genes in the body that affect the process of weight loss. The researchers hypothesized that eight weeks of endurance-based training can reduce body mass, but there may be differences in the speed of weight loss among participants and this difference may be due to their genes.
Results of the study
The study included 38 people between the ages of 23 and 40. They were divided into two groups: one group was asked to exercise, and the other group was kept inactive. The exercise group ran for 20 to 30 minutes a week for eight weeks. Their weight loss was measured during this time. The results of the study found that people with certain genes lost up to five kilograms, while those who did not have these genes lost only two kilograms. In this, the PPARGC1A gene was particularly mentioned, which is linked to energy metabolism in the body.
Need for a personalized approach
This study suggests that a single method for weight loss may not work for everyone. Every person's body is different and the results of exercise depend on their genes. However, this does not mean that weight cannot be reduced, but with the right exercise and lifestyle changes, every person can achieve their target.
