The is known for its brutal voting system, but fans were stunned by a contestant's actions in a recent episode. As the batch of quiz show hopefuls took it in turn to make their nominations for who to vote off, one player almost got it completely wrong.
was on hand to ask the questions for a celebrity version of the long-running quiz. Among those taking part was Countdown mathematician Rachel Riley.
But it was rapper Konan of Krept & Konan fame who appeared to struggle. Among the questions he failed at were: "What is eight divided by four?" with the musician incorrectly guessing the answer was four.
The difficult spell didn't end with his question answering ability, either. After a number of votes aimed in his direction, the star then mistakenly named himself. He quickly tried to correct himself as he said: "Konan. No, I mean Rory."
The rapper has been making waves in the music industry as part of Krept & Konan. However, his quiz show skills left a lot to be desired. After a viewer shared the blunder on Elon Musk's micro-blogging platform X, formerly known as , they couldn't contain their humour as they wrote: "Bro nearly voted himself off," with two crying emojis.
Another added: "I’m dying," with a crying with laughter emoji face. "It’s the last one when he votes himself lol."
A third viewer said: "Konan dropped a hall of shame performance on the weakest link and even voted himself out lmao." And a fourth mocked: "That konan on weakest link clip is so funny omg."
He is not the only celebrity to have shocked fans on the show, though. Last year left viewers of the show speechless over her "unbelievable" answer.
In March 2024, Helen was among those who took part but she didn't make it past the first round. The actress - who is best known for playing Rosie Webster on - attracted attention over her answer to the first question that she was asked by the host. It was about the landmark the White Cliffs of Dover in .
Host Romesh had asked the star: "In geology, the White Cliffs of Dover are principally formed of what substance - chalk or cheese?" She paused briefly with hesitation, before replying: "Cheese."
The host subsequently revealed that she had answered incorrectly before Helen went on to pass on on her next two questions. The subjects involved which were about music and chemistry respectively.
She was subsequently voted "the weakest link" by the seven other contestants, becoming the first to be eliminated on the episode.
Despite Helen labelling the show "terrifying", fans weren't prepared to give her a reprieve for her answer. One user wrote: "Saw this live as it happened and couldn't believe my ears."
Another added: "That really is an unbelievable answer." A third viewer said: "Good grief."
