Former Manchester United star Bryan Robson believes Steven Gerrard would be interested in taking charge at Wrexham if Phil Parkinson were to lose his job. The Welsh side have endured a difficult start to their first season in the second tier in 43 years, collecting just four points from their opening five matches.
Wrexham currently sit 21st in the Championship table, just one point above the relegation zone, which has led to speculation over Parkinson's future. Club director Shaun Harvey has dismissed such talk, insisting the manager retains the support of the board and the Red Dragons' Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac.
However, there is still plenty of external scrutiny after Wrexham spent around £33million on signing 13 new players during the summer transfer window. Robson has now suggested that Liverpool legend Gerrard would view Wrexham as an attractive opportunity if the manager's post became vacant.
The ex-Rangers and Aston Villa boss is currently without a job after his stint at the helm of Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq ended in January after 18 months. Despite Robson's suggestion that Gerrard could be tempted by the Wrexham role, he believes Parkinson deserves more time to turn results around after guiding the club to three consecutive promotions.
"It's whether Stevie wants to get back into the game," Robson told OLBG. "He's had a good experience now in Saudi but you know a job like that would definitely interest him if he does want to go back into management.

"I think Wrexham at this moment in time should give Phil a bit more time because he has done a great job for them. They've done fantastic to get where they are from where they were to get into the Championship in a short period of time.
"For me, if they can consolidate in the Championship, even if they finish mid-table, that would be a really good season from where they've come from."

The United legend added: "The charisma that the US lads have is fantastic, and the good thing about Wrexham is that they've got a good fan base that'll get right behind them so there'll always be a good atmosphere within the stadium. Then with the sponsorship Ryan Reynolds has brought in too, that can only hold the club in good stead."
Wrexham director Harvey has spoken out about the speculation surrounding Parkinson's future this week, branding reports that talks have been held over his position as "an absolute disgrace". The former EFL chief executive rubbished the suggestions as "nonsense" and also believes the manager deserves more time to shape his squad.
Speaking on the podcast, he said: "I think we're all disappointed that we've not got more than four points at this moment in time. But to start quoting discussions and meetings that have taken place is the bit that's a disgrace.
"Phil has everybody at the club's full support. [His future] has not even been anywhere near the agenda as yet. Phil's our man and we've backed him from the start. We backed him four years ago and we've had all the success under that regime. Why should we start panicking now just to fit media speculation?"
Parkinson himself has also responded to the claims and insists he's the man to turn results around after achieving huge success at Wrexham.
"There were no discussions at all after the game," Parkinson told The Leader newspaper. "I wasn't aware of that. We were just frustrated as a staff.
"I had a chat with the players, but it was only a brief one, and we picked up things on Monday morning. To be honest with you, I have had a lot more pressure situations than this."
