Major discount chain has become the latest retailer to confirm its opening hours over the weekend. There are two on Easter weekend and they are Good Friday, which falls on April 18 this year, and Easter Monday, which is April 21.

In the UK, Easter Sunday is classed as a public holiday - like Day - and under trading rules larger shops that are over 280 sq meters need to close. The bargain chain has said it will be closing all of its 549 England and Wales stores on Easter Sunday this year.

Alongside this, it will be reducing its opening hours on both bank holidays - so Good Friday and Easter Monday - to give their staff some extra time off over the beank holiday weekend.

However, Home Bargain's Scottish stores will be opening on Sunday, as the country has different trading laws to the rest of the UK. A spokesperson for the brand said: "On Easter Sunday, our stores are closed, with the exception of our Scottish stores.

"Most stores will open from 9am to 6pm on Good Friday and Easter Monday; however, there may be some variance, so we advise checking the special opening times on our store locator."

Usually, Home Bargains stores open from around 8am and close between 7pm and 9pm. You can check the opening hours of your local store on Home Bargain's website. Generally, Home Bargains' Easter opening times are as follows:

  • Good Friday: 9am-6pm
  • Easter Sunday - CLOSED
  • Easter Monday - 9am-6pm

Last month, Home Bargains was forced to recall a number of its Waster Products over concerns they could pose a serious choking hazard to children. Rabbit and chick plush toys sold in the run-up to Easter 2025 have both been found to have weaknesses that could allow children to pull them apart.

The toys were flagged by the Government’s Office for Product Safety and Standards which said in a statement: “The products present a serious risk of asphyxiation as it has been identified that the limbs of the toy can become easily detached due to the weakness of the seams

“As a result, the internal fibrous stuffing material is easily accessible. A child may access the stuffing material and place it in their mouth.”

The products in question are the retailer's Happy Easter Plush Toys 25cm (Pink Rabbit, White Rabbit and Yellow Chick). They were made in China and have the barcode 10811016. Home Bargains has withdrawn the products from the market and recalled them. Customers are asked to return them to the store for a full refund - even without the receipt.
