FBI entrance rammed by car 'with message' in 'act of terror' as manhunt launched

A manhunt has been launched after an FBI gate was rammed by a car 'carrying a message' in what they are classing as an act of terrorism.

Donald Henson, of Penn Hills, is wanted by cops who they say used his car to ram the barrier to the building at Pittsburgh Field, Pennsylvania, around 2.40am. on Wednesday morning. They say the suspect grabbed an American flag from inside the vehicle and hung it over the gate.

No one was injured during the incident, the FBI confirmed. Assistant Special Agent In Charge Christopher Giordano said the man ran from the scene as they urged the public to be on their guard. He said Henson is believed to have a history of mental health issues.

"We look at this as an act of terror against the FBI," Mr Giordano said. "This was a targeted attack on this building." Pictures broadcast by CBS showed a white sedan rammed into the black metal gate. Officers remain at the scene as the investigation continues.

"Right now, he is wanted in connection with this crime against the FBI," Giordano added, who went on to say that there is no indication that Henson is armed "It is a federal offence and we will be seeking prosecution to the fullest extent.

"In scouring our indexes, we did find that he visited the field office a couple of weeks ago to make a complaint that didn't make a whole lot of sense. We ran down everything that he came down with. It didn't have a federal nexus. We contacted him to let him know there wasn't a federal offence that we were able to charge."

There appeared to be a message written on one of the car's windows, officials say. The FBI believed the suspect to be a former member of the military who visited the Pittsburgh office recently. The federal law enforcement agency alerted a bomb squad to investigate the vehicle.

Witness Nakeisha Brown told WTAE she first heard the screeching of tires before the smash. "He got out and went around the passenger side and pulled something out the passenger side. I thought it was a gun but it happened to be a flag and he just set it on that fence and started yelling out some words and just took off," the bystander said.
