Donald Trump told AI tech bosses "I hope you know what you're doing" in a chilling warning today.
On the last day of the president's two-day state visit, he met with Sir Keir Starmer to sign a strategic technology partnership deal.
Speaking in front of tech bosses, he said: “We’re taking the next logical step with a historic agreement on science and technology partnerships and this will create new government, academic, and, private sector cooperation in areas such as AI - which is taking over the world.

Picking out one member of the group, he said: "I'm looking at you guys, you're taking over the world Jensen".
"I don’t know what you’re doing here, I hope you’re right, all I can say is we both hope you’re right.”
It's understood that Trump was speaking to Jensen Huang, the president and CEO of NVIDIA, whose company experienced rapid growth during the AI boom. In July 2025, NVIDIA became the first company to reach a market capitalization of $4.0 trillion.
Trump also joked with his treasury secretary Scott Bessent and commerce secretary Howard Lutnick as he signed the deal alongside Sir Keir Starmer.
He said: “Should I sign this Howard? Scott? If the deal’s no good I’m blaming you.”
The ceremony was attended by British and American business leaders including the chief executives of Nvidia, Microsoft, Rolls-Royce, Boeing, BAE Systems, GlaxoSmithKline, Alphabet, BlackRock and Citi Group.
Also in attendance were Chancellor Rachel Reeves, Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, Business and Trade Secretary Peter Kyle, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, US treasury secretary Scott Bessent and US commerce secretary Howard Lutnick.
To coincide with the visit, Britain said U.S. companies had pledged 150 billion pounds ($204 billion) in investment in the United Kingdom, including 90 billion pounds ($122 billion) from investment firm Blackstone in the next decade. Investment will also flow the other way, including almost $30 billion by pharmaceutical firm GSK in the U.S.
Starmer said it was “the biggest investment package of its kind in British history by a country mile.”
The two leaders also signed a “tech prosperity deal” that U.K. officials say will bring thousands of jobs and billions in investment in artificial intelligence, quantum computing and nuclear energy.
It includes a U.K. arm of Stargate, a Trump-backed AI infrastructure project led by OpenAI, and a host of AI data centers around the U.K. American firms are announcing 31 billion pounds ($42 billion) investment in the U.K.’s AI sector, including $30 billion from Microsoft for protects including Britain’s largest supercomputer.
