Andy Robertson sends Trent Alexander-Arnold message to Liverpool fans before final appearance

Andy Robertson hopes Trent Alexander-Arnold's contributions to Liverpool's successes are remembered 'as they should be' in .

Alexander-Arnold will make his final appearance for the Reds in Sunday's Anfield meeting with winners , after which the Reds will lift the trophy.

This season's title success is the second for Robertson and Alexander-Arnold, who have won eight major honours together ever since becoming first-team players under in 2017.

Alexander-Arnold had made his debut the previous year having emerged from the Reds' academy, while Robertson slowly ousted Alberto Moreno to become Liverpool's first-choice left-back following his signing from at the beginning of the 2017-18 season.

During their time on the opposite flanks of the Reds' defence Alexander-Arnold and Robertson have become two of the finest attacking full-backs in football.

England international Alexander-Arnold has chalked up 86 assists for the Reds in all competitions, while captain Robertson has 67. They are the two highest assisting defenders in Premier League history with 64 and 60 respectively.

The two have also struck up a close bond off the pitch, and Robertson has paid tribute to Alexander-Arnold on in a pointed message which appeared to reference the boos that greeted his friend's appearance off the bench in the recent draw with .

Robertson wrote: "My brother, where to even start! It has been an absolute privilege watching you grow from a boy to a man over these last 8 years. You have won it all and created amazing memories along the way. I want to thank you for constantly pushing me to new limits and setting the bar so high that I had no choice but to follow.

"You are going to be a huge miss around the training ground and an even bigger miss on the pitch. I hope all the hard work you have put into this club, the moments you have given us and the massive contribution you have made are recognised as they should be….. Wingmen one last time."

Alexander-Arnold will join this summer, with the Spanish giants hoping to have him in their squad when they kick off their Club World Cup campaign against Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal on June 18.
