All Creatures Great and Small fans swoon over 'formidable' newcomer

Newcomer Elexi Walker has won over All Creatures Great and Smallfans who are desperate for her to become a regular fixture on the show.

The actress has become part of the Channel 5 period drama ensemble as Sister Rose, who vet James Herriot (Nicholas Ralph) helps with an unwell dog. She then returns the favour by helping the vet to get an X-ray machine for his surgery, which could transform his work.

Fans of the Yorkshire-based programme swiftly warmed to Rose's no-nonsense personality, sharing posts on X (which was formerly Twitter) calling for the Sister to be part of the series for good, reports the Manchester Evening News.

One fan posted on the platform as the show aired on Thursday (October 2): "I already love Sister Rose. I hope we can keep her permanently."

"I love Sister Rose already," declared another, whilst someone else shared: "We LOVE seeing more strong women on the show! Welcome Sister Rose."

One fan dubbed the new character "THE MVP" and another observed that she "looks like a formidable addition to the cast" of the show.

Someone else remarked on the platform: "It was great to see Sister Rose making an appearance. Had started listening to the audiobooks, hearing her stories, and now we have face to the name."

"I think we are all a Sister Rose fangirl," shared another fan.

One person joked: "I need Audrey and Sister Rose to join forces and fight crimes together."

Set in Northern England during the 1930s and 1940s, All Creatures Great and Small draws from the novels penned by Alf Wight, who published his work under the pseudonym James Herriot.

The series follows James's adventures as a vet, his relationships with characters like Siegfried Farnon (played by Samuel West) and Mrs Hall (portrayed by Anna Madeley), and his romantic journey with his wife Helen (Rachel Shenton).

The programme first hit our TV screens in 2020 and is now in its sixth series. There have also been numerous special episodes of All Creatures Great and Small focusing on the happenings at Skeldale House.
