Bhopal, April 22 (IANS) Aiming at Rs 12,000 crore investment and 5,000 job creation, the Madhya Pradesh government is planning to set up a Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) in Gwalior.
A mega investors' summit for telecom industry is also going to be organised in Indore on April 27.
The conclave is aimed at attracting investment in the sector in Madhya Pradesh.
"The state Cabinet on Tuesday discussed building a Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) in Gwalior. A proposal has been sent to the Indian government in this regard. This TMZ will be built on a large chunk of land. Once cleared, the telecom hub or TMZ will attract more than Rs 12,000 crore investment in the sector and is likely to create 5,000 jobs. To attract investment in telecom sector, an IT conclave is going to be held in Indore on April 27," Rajendra Shukla, Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister, said.
"Madhya Pradesh is set to host the Tech Growth Conclave-2025 on April 27 in Indore, a landmark event organised by the state's Department of Science and Technology.
The conclave aims to convert investment pledges made at the Global Investors Summit 2025 into concrete projects, reinforcing the state's position as a hub for technology and innovation," the Deputy Chief Minister added.
Every entrepreneur is coming for the development of the telecom sector in Madhya Pradesh, he said.
He also added that there are immense possibilities for the development of the telecom sector in areas like Gwalior and Jabalpur in the state.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will preside over the event, unveiling a comprehensive roadmap for technological development in Madhya Pradesh.
The conclave will focus on accelerating IT investment policies, tracking progress, and fostering collaboration between government, industry, and academia to solidify the state's presence in the capital and global tech ecosystem.
Key announcements will include four new policy guidelines, the ground breaking ceremony for IIT Indore, the launch of an AI-based Centre of Excellence, and new MoUs for cutting-edge technology labs such as Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality.
These initiatives will enhance research, skill development, and industry partnerships.
The event will also see the foundation laying of some private investment major projects.
More than 300 industry leaders, policymakers, and investors are likely to participate, discussing advancements in IT, Information Technology Enabled Services, semiconductors, drone technology, and data centres.
The conclave will also mark the inauguration of Jabalpur IT Park Block B, valued at Rs 25 crore and expected to create more than 500 jobs.
The MoUs for new Centres of Excellence in AI, cybersecurity, semiconductors, and drone technology will be signed with institutions like Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal; Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Bhopal; and Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Gwalior.
A dedicated investment portal will be launched for project tracking, alongside four new policy guidelines to enhance the investment climate.
