Azamgarh: Security lapse during Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav’s program in Azamgarh on Thursday led to temporary chaos when a youth broke through the cordon and reached near the stage. The incident, which unfolded during the former Chief Minister’s politically significant visit to his home turf, has raised serious questions about administrative intent and police preparedness.

As Yadav addressed supporters, a man from the crowd pushed past police officers and scaled the 4-foot barricade to reach the area near the stage. Although he appeared unarmed and shouted slogans with folded hands, the breach caused alarm. Police quickly restrained and detained him, removing him from the venue after a five-minute struggle.
SP workers reacted sharply, calling the incident a deliberate attempt to disrupt the event. “Why does this always happen when Akhilesh speaks truth to power?” a senior party functionary questioned. Many supporters feel that resistance, particularly from conservative sections including some Brahmin lobbies, is growing because Akhilesh’s rising popularity threatens entrenched political narratives. “This was not an accident,” another SP member said, “It was a message that some are unnerved by Akhilesh's growing resonance with the people.”The police have launched an investigation into the identity and motive of the youth.
