Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Building Permission Department of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) will submit an application on Saturday at Piplani Police Station seeking an FIR against M/s Gandharv Land & Finance Pvt. Ltd, in a case of illegal sale of land reserved for public utilities like schools, parks, hospitals, and playgrounds has surfaced in Patel Nagar, said BMC official.

City planner Anoop Goyal stated that the 1.212-acre land, reserved under earlier city planning for primary schools, was under the ownership of the municipal corporation and covered by contracts signed in 1999.

Despite this, builder Anuj Grover allegedly sold the land to buyers Jay Pratap Singh Yadav and Abhishek Anand for Rs 3.90 crore on November 27, 2024, violating terms of both diversion orders (from 1962) and municipal agreements.

The illegally sold land is part of a larger 90.17-acre layout approved in 1961 and 1987, which included designated plots for public infrastructure. Clause 6 of the 1999 agreement explicitly states that lands reserved for schools, parks, clinics, and roads would remain under municipal ownership.

The matter recently reached state minister Krishna Gaur, who directed officials to initiate legal action. Following a detailed inquiry, the municipal corporation has formally moved to register an FIR against the builder and others involved.

CP Goyal told Free Press that while the complaint letter is yet to be received at the police station, all related documents have been prepared.
