What Happened At the Scene?
The incident took place when the home guard tried to stop the car from entering a one-way road. Instead of slowing down, the driver accelerated, forcing the home guard onto the bonnet and continuing to drive at high speed through the city. Eyewitnesses recorded the horrifying visuals as the car travelled from Chaupala bridge to Mission Compound, with the officer clinging on for his life.
The accused eventually flung the home guard onto the road before fleeing the scene. In the course of his escape, he also collided with the official vehicle of a Traffic Sub-Inspector, further escalating the seriousness of the offence.
Police Launch Hunt for Driver
The entire incident was captured by CCTV cameras installed in the area and by videos shot by stunned passersby. Police have now launched an investigation and are working to identify the accused using the vehicle’s registration number.
"A case has been registered against the driver, and a dedicated team has been formed for his arrest," a police official confirmed to NBT. Authorities have assured that the accused will be apprehended soon.
The home guard is reported to have escaped any serious injuries.
