Dhanteras 2025
The Diwali festival begins with Dhanteras, celebrated every year on the thirteenth day of the dark fortnight of the month of Kartika. This auspicious date falls on Saturday, October 18th. On this day, Lord Dhanvantari (the god of Ayurveda) and Lord Kubera are worshipped. On this day, Dhanvantari emerged from the churning of the ocean with the pot of nectar, and therefore, the festival of Dhanteras is considered a symbol of health and stability of wealth. Purchasing gold, silver, utensils, and new items on this day is considered auspicious.

Chhoti Diwali/Narak Chaturdashi 2025
Chhoti Diwali or Narak Chaturdashi is celebrated on the second day of the Diwali festival. This year, the festival will be celebrated on Sunday, October 19th. Every year, this festival is celebrated on the fourteenth day of the dark fortnight of the month of Kartika. On Choti Diwali, Lord Krishna and Yamaraj are worshipped. Homes light lamps, with a primary lamp lit in the name of Yama, facing south. Lord Krishna killed Narakasura on this day, hence the name Naraka Chaturdashi.

Ganesh-Lakshmi Pujan 2025
The Ganesh-Lakshmi Pujan is the most significant event of the festival. It is celebrated annually on the new moon day of the Kartik month. This auspicious date will be celebrated on Monday, October 20th. During the night of the new moon, lamps are lit and Ganesh-Lakshmi is worshipped with the entire family. Along with Ganesh-Lakshmi, Kubera is also worshipped on this day. Since the new moon is moonless, lighting lamps in this darkness symbolizes knowledge. This is the biggest day of the Diwali festival.

Govardhan Puja 2025
The fourth festival of Diwali is the worship of Govardhan, also known as Annakoot. Every year, this festival is celebrated on the first day of the bright fortnight of the month of Kartika, and this time, this auspicious day will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 22nd. On this day, Govardhan Maharaj is made from cow dung in every home and worshipped with the entire family. On this day, Lord Krishna lifted the Govardhan mountain, breaking the pride of Lord Indra and protecting the people of Braj.
