Learning is not only theories of knowledge but what can be learnt with love, Shillong-IIM professor Sanjay Mukherjee said on Friday.
“Learning is a journey, which is ever evolving. Great teachers help students answer their questions,” Mukherjee said as he was addressing students in Kolkata.
Collaboration with Universities is essential and students can contribute in various developmental projects including disaster management, Dr O P Mishra Director of National Center for Seismology (NCS) which is the nodal agency of the Government of India for monitoring of earthquake activity in the country. Both were addressing an induction programme of JIS University.

JIS University, an institution under JIS Group Educational Initiatives, conducted its Induction Program 2025-26 in Kolkata today. The event marked the commencement of an enriching academic journey for the new cohort of students, aimed at equipping them with vision and a spirit of leadership.
Eminent professors and varied domains Former Director, Space Applications Centre (ISRO) Tapan Misra, also the founder, Sisir Radar, former Indian footballer Gautam Sarkar, Glen Dsouza, the General Manager of Hyatt Centric; Vice-Chancellor of JIS University Dr Bhaskar Gupta and Managing Director of JIS Group Taranjit Singh, and Director of JIS Group Simarpreet Singh were present at the programme.
