Professionals are increasingly realising the importance of embracing lifelong learning so that they can handle the bumps in their careers in a better way. A LinkedIn analysis shows that 90% of working professionals who took part in a survey are looking for more guidance and support than ever before.
According to the research, 62% are convinced that getting ahead in their career now depends on their comfort with AI, and 63% of professionals acknowledge the need for continuous learning.
About 44% are learning about tech advancements, 35% are improving their sector-specific market analysis skills and 35% are following social trends to stay informed and prepared for future opportunities. Professionals particularly value videos with anecdotes and learnings (49%), and unscripted podcast conversations (38%), to take informed professional decisions and evaluate career prospects.
Nirajita Banerjee, Career Expert and Head of Editorial, LinkedIn India, says, “With AI and hybrid work models changing how we work, staying informed about the latest industry trends is now more important than ever. Today, 8 out of 10 (78%) workers in India are already turning to industry leaders and peers for advice — recognising the value of proactively seeking professional knowledge. Embracing this mindset, staying curious, and continuously developing new skills can set you up for success and help you stay ahead of change.”
She says it is important for professionals to be aware of the changes that are happening around them. Topics like AI and hybrid work are changing constantly. By staying up-to-date with the latest news and insights from trusted experts, a person can better understand how these developments will impact work.
It is equally important for professionals to adopt a growth mindset, says Banerjee. Change is hard and it’s okay to feel nervous, but try to approach the process with an open mind, she says. A willingness to learn can help people build knowledge in newer areas. For example, practising prompt writing or using AI to take meeting notes will make it easier to use these tools in the future.
She also lists bitesize learning as an important factor. Finding easier ways to acquire new skills and knowledge makes it more manageable. Professionals find short-form video the most helpful and engaging when looking for information, she adds.
