New Delhi [India], October 16 (ANI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday hailed the Union cabinet's decision to hike 3 per cent Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees and called it a 'gift' to the Central Government employees on the occasion of festivals.
"The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved an additional instalment of DA to Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners w.e.f. 01.07.2024 representing an increase of three per cent (3 per cent) over the existing rate of 50 per cent of the Basic Pay/Pension, to compensate against price rise," reads a government release.

The DA is paid to central government employees/pensioners to adjust the cost of living and to protect their basic pay/pension from erosion in the real values.
