Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], November 9 (ANI): Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate from Worli, Aditya Thackeray said on Saturday that the Maharashtra Assembly election is not an election of the family, but it is for the development of the people of the state whom he is fighting for.
Speaking to ANI, Thackeray also alleged that there were no elections of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Thane Municipal Corporation for the last two years in the state.
"This is not an election of the family, this is an election for the development of the people of Maharashtra and we are fighting for them. The beginning of disrespecting the Constitution was done in Maharashtra. There were no elections of BMC, Thane Municipal Corporation for the last two years in the state. An unconstitutional government has been made to rule the state," he said.
Further, Aditya Thackeray said his vision is to work for the farmers, and youth.
"There are 10 more contestants with me, all of them are important. Every candidate comes with hope and the public will decide who will emerge victorious. The redevelopment of BDD NM Joshi was done when Uddhav Thackeray was the Chief Minister and that is why we are getting so much love from the public. The BJP is looting the nation and Maharashtra, the farmer is upset, youth is unemployed. My vision is to work for them," the Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate said.
The Worli constituency will see a high-profile contest between Mahayuti candidate Milind Deora and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has also announced its candidate, Sandeep Deshpande from the seat.
Milind Deora is currently a Rajya Sabha member and is a three-time MP from South Mumbai.
The Maharashtra assembly elections are scheduled for November 20, with votes for all 288 constituencies to be counted on November 23.
In the 2019 Maharashtra assembly elections, the BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena secured 56, and Congress 44. In 2014, the BJP won 122 seats, Shiv Sena 63, and Congress 42. (ANI)
