Assam Police, BSF apprehends 5 Bangladeshi nationals in Mankachar

Guwahati (Assam) [India], September 17 (ANI): The Assam Police and the Border Security Forces (BSF) had apprehended five Bangladeshi nationals in Assam's South Salmara Mankachar district.
In a post on X, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said that in a joint operation by Assam police and BSF, an auto was intercepted in Mankachar, which was carrying 5 illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators.
"Upon questioning, the apprehended infiltrators revealed that they crossed from Sherpur and one Indian national named Pappan from South Salmara Mankachar is involved in this infiltration nexus. Necessary measures for pushing back the individuals is being undertaken and we are working to unearth this nexus," the Assam Chief Minister wrote on X.
The apprehended illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators were identified as Akash Ali, Safikul Mandal, Sabina Akter, Pinki Akter, Santa and the Auto Driver Akhirul Islam.


Earlier on September 12, Assam police managed to identify three Bangladeshi nationals and pushed them back to their country in wee hours.
On September 11, Assam police intercepted one Bangladeshi national named Toyu Shaikh and pushed back him to Bangladesh at 01:45 am.

Moreover, Assam police on September 9 intercepted two Bangladeshi infiltrators, Shahadat Hussain and Priyanka Gain in Karimganj and they were pushed back across the border.
According to the reports, security forces have apprehended 26 illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators from different parts of Assam in this month so far while they illegally entered into Assam by crossing the international border.
The security forces had pushed back them to their origin country. (ANI)
