Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced that the Union Cabinet has approved 78 78-day bonus for railway employees. The Cabinet has approved a total bonus of Rs 2,028.57 crore for 11.72 lakh railway employees.
According to the official statement, the bonus will be paid to various categories of railway employees including track maintainers, loco pilots, station masters, supervisors, technicians, technician helpers, train managers (guards), pointsmen, ministerial staff and other Group XC staff. Railway employees will be given bonuses as per their productivity performance so far.
However, the Indian Railways has not yet released an official notification regarding the timelines and other information. However, according to reports, the government is likely to distribute the bonus before the Dussehra and Diwali holidays.
Railway Bonus 2024 Amount Each eligible railway employee can get a maximum bonus of Rs 17,951 for 78 days of salary. The decision to release the bonus for employees was announced due to the stellar performance of the railways during the financial year (FY 2023-24).
Indian Railways achieved record performance during the last financial year. According to the Cabinet, improved infrastructure, increased capital expenditure and higher efficiency helped Indian Railways load 1,588 million tonnes of goods and transport around 6.7 billion passengers.
Railway Bonus 2024 Eligibility
The bonus announced for railway employees will depend on the performance of the employees in the year. No clear information has been given about the criteria for performance appraisal.
