Delhi University: The academic session 2025-26 has started in Delhi University (DU) from today. Orientation programs are being organized to welcome new students in various colleges of DU. Students were welcomed on Thursday itself in many institutions including Hansraj and Maharaja Agrasen College, while in some colleges these programs will also be held on Friday and Monday.
The new session was formally started with a traditional havan at Hansraj College on Thursday. The college management not only gave information about the institute to the students, but also emphasized the importance of discipline, opportunities and learning. Similarly, students were warmly welcomed at Maharaja Agrasen College in Vasundhara Enclave.
Addressing the students, college principal Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Tiwari said, "College graduation is an important phase not only for education but also for personality development."
Administration strict to stop ragging, control room and police deployed
DU administration has taken strict steps to prevent any possibility of ragging with the new session. Joint control rooms will work in the North and South campuses from August 1 to 8. Along with this, anti-ragging week will be celebrated from August 12 to 18.
Delhi Police van 'Vamika' will patrol the campus throughout the day and entry of outsiders will be completely prohibited. If found guilty of ragging, the student can be suspended or his degree can be cancelled.
