In the year 1991, Indian Railways started operating train ambulance i.e. Lifeline Express for the first time. Actually, the Government of India started this train ambulance so that the poor people living in remote areas of the country, who cannot go to big cities for treatment, can get treatment at their homes. Especially those who are physically able, the government started this train to provide high medical facilities to them.
What are the facilities in the train?
Indian Railways' Lifeline Express provides medical facilities to remote areas. So even in train accidents, Lifeline Express provides medical facilities. It can be called a mobile hospital. Lifeline Express reaches where doctors and medicines cannot reach.
It has been designed exactly like a hospital. It has beds for patients. It has modern machines, operation theatre. And a dedicated medical staff. Every coach of this train has a power generator. Along with this, there is a medical ward. The facility of pantry car is also available inside the train.
